Meet Wendy
Hello, I’m Wendy.
I’m so glad you’ve stopped by!
I’m the writer behind Heal Heart and Soul and the author of The God of the Impossible.
If there’s one thing I’ve discovered through the ups and downs of life, it’s that God is faithful. I’ve walked through some incredibly difficult seasons, but I’ve also experienced His love, provision and goodness in ways I could never have imagined.
Some of those experiences have been nothing short of extraordinary, and they’ve left me with a deep desire to share what God has done and encourage others to trust Him, even when their own circumstances seem impossible.
That’s really the heart behind Heal Heart and Soul. I want to share the hope I’ve found in God’s Word and through my own experiences, and encourage you to believe that the same God who worked so wonderfully throughout Scripture is still at work in our lives today.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll feel right at home.

A little more of my story
I’ve needed the God of the impossible too
When I write about trusting God through difficult circumstances, I’m drawing on experiences that have deeply affected my own life and my family. In The God of the Impossible, I share more of these stories alongside the Bible accounts that have encouraged me.
Debt and unexpected provision
When my husband lost his job the day before Christmas, we had a mortgage to pay and no savings to fall back on. We were exhausted from years of difficulties, and this felt like one setback too many. Yet twelve months later, we were living in a new home, completely debt-free. The sale of our old house and the purchase of our new one came together in a way we could never have dreamed of – and God was so precise. He paid off our debts to the dollar!
On another occasion, an unexpected stamp duty bill for tens of thousands of dollars left us wondering how we could possibly pay it. The very next day, a real estate newsletter alerted us to an exemption. When our lawyer checked our circumstances, the amount owing was zero. I could hardly believe how quickly everything had changed.
My husband’s struggle with alcohol
My husband’s alcohol addiction affected our family for thirty years. There were many attempts to stop, including two stays in rehab, but lasting freedom seemed out of reach. I kept praying, even when I struggled to imagine that anything would change. In the book, I share how, with God’s help, he finally stopped drinking—and the joy of having the man I loved back again.
A marriage I couldn’t put back together
There came a point when the pain in our marriage was more than I could bear. I packed some belongings, took the children and left, even though I still loved my husband very much. I had no strength left to keep fighting for our marriage.
Our restoration took time. Prayer, healing, repentance, forgiveness and gratitude all became part of our story. God worked in my heart too. The love and companionship we now share are gifts I don’t take for granted.
My own mental health challenges
I began experiencing OCD when I was nine, and I know how frightening and exhausting it can be when your own thoughts seem to take over. I’ve also lived with bi polar, depression and anxiety. There have been times when trusting God was hard, and I have needed His help myself.
In the book, I describe the freedom I experienced from compulsive rituals as a teenager, as well as the intrusive thoughts that returned after the birth of my first child. While medication has been lifesaving for me, God’s care has sustained me throughout my life both extraordinary answers to prayer and the help I’ve needed along the way.
Raising a child with special needs
When one of our children was born with a serious health condition, we were shocked and frightened about what the future might hold. Later, our child needed major surgery to be able to keep walking. Those were difficult days as a parent.
But there has also been so much joy. In the book, I share about a recovery that was much quicker than we had been told to expect, and the milestones, friendships and happy experiences that followed. Looking back, I am deeply grateful for God’s goodness in our child’s life.
These are some of the experiences behind my writing. I share them because I know what it is to need hope, and I want others to hear what God has done.
A place to come as you are
I hope you’ll find writing that helps you turn to God with what is really happening in your life. You don’t have to hide your doubts or pretend that suffering is easy.
Alongside the devotionals, I share experiences that have shown me His provision, peace and restoration. I offer them in the hope that what He has done in my life will strengthen your faith in what He can do in yours.
With love, Wendy
